Nothing gold can stay

I think the phrase "Nothing Gold can Stay" means to me is that who ever has a good life in the beginning of there life and when they into there teenage years that they do something bad and then there gold starts going away. In the book "The Outsiders" I think that it could apply to the character Johnny because johnny kills someone in the book. This could mean that he could have been a good person when he was little and when he got into the middle school years and was able to learn about what not to do and what to do and that is when he was starting to do bad things.
