The outsiders essay

Have you ever done something really bad in life that you would like to go back in time and change what you did? This book is called The Outsiders and it is mostly based on a gang called the Greasers and the Socs. In this book the Greasers always do something bad or make fun of someone and make them feel bad about themselves. In the book there is Dallas Winston, Two-Bit Mathews, Steve Randle, Ponyboy Curtis, Johnny Cade, Sodapop Curtis, and Darry Curtis all in the Greasers gang.

The narrator of this book is Ponyboy and he is part of the Greasers gang. In this book the greasers are poor and the Socs are rich. The Greasers dress in jeans, t-shirts, and leather jackets, they also grease there long hair. My favorite character of this story that I would have to say is Darry because he has a good part in this book and he has an interesting life. “When the two boys disobey Dally and run into the burning church” this is a quote from the story that I was showing from where there is a burning church in the story. What Johnny was doing in the burning church was trying to save some kids that got trapped inside when the fire started.

At the end of the book, Johnny dies because he was trying to save some kids from the burning church that was started from someone. Dally did not like that Johnny died of when he was trying to help some people and so he went to go and rob a comic store to get rid of some of his anger. So when he was at the store, he was the only person there accept for the person at the counter. The person at the counter was not impatient and asked Dally “are you going to buy anything?” Dally looked at the guy at the counter and ripped a comic book. The guy said “you know you have to pay for that.” Dally then walked to the counter and pulled out his un-loaded gun and put it to the guy’s neck. Dally said “give me all the money.” The guy gave it to him and Dally ran out the door. Dally was running to a telephone nearby so he could call his gang at the house to tell them to pick him up and that the cops are after him. Dally tries to run away from the cops and ends up on a hill. The cops have him surrounded and his gang gets there and tries to tell the cops that he is only a kid. All the cops end up shooting him and he ends up dyeing to. This is why you don’t do bad things like what Dally did.

  1. The whole was kind of scattered around and I didn't see a thesis statement anywhere in the essay. Assuming you're doing a character analysis, I think you should have talked more about Dally not just scenes from the book. Also, you're quote in the essay was random and was irrelevant to the rest of the essay. It has good structure and for the randomness that it has it's written well, I just think that you rushed through it.
